Why Use Blu-Lock?

Blu-Lock fittings make a great alternative to traditional PVC solvent welded fittings and barbed fittings for laundry to landscape greywater systems! Let's go over the advantages:

1. Attaching fittings to pipe doesn't require any toxic glue! Simply push the pipe into the fitting.

2. No huge forearms required! Fittings and pipe are much easier to assemble than barbed fittings.

3. PVC free fittings! Blu-Lock fittings are made off UV resistant ABS which is much less toxic to manufacture than PVC.

Blu-Lock pipe is made from high density polyethylene which can be recycled after it's useful life. By using Blu-Lock fittings and pipe, a PVC free greywater irrigation system can be installed.

Those compression-valve shtouffs are horrible! Even if you fix it, there's a good chance that by the time you next need to shut off that line, it will either be ready to start leaking again or won't shut off completely, or both. Best thing to do is fix the leak and add a 1/4-turn valve with compression fittings (from a plumbing supply store;HD doesn't stock the right ones), then take the knob off the old valve. The old valve won't leak for a long time if you leave it completely opened.

You can also use a compression coiplung, 5/8 OD.Or you could use a ball valve with the same compression fittings on each end. If you choose this method of repair, be sur eto use a little pipe joint compund on ferrels and threads of compression fittings. It makes them tighten much easier. Also be sure not to over tighten end that cpvc goes in to. Good luck.
